WIMP
χMythicHypothetical: never detected, game threshold is fictional
Fact from the codex
Hypothetical: a weakly interacting massive particle, the classic dark matter candidate; dark matter makes up about a quarter of the universe's energy. In an accelerator a WIMP pair would escape unseen and show up only as missing energy, often next to a jet. Not detected so far.
Professor Quark says
“A WIMP, a Weakly Interacting Massive Particle – the name says it all. For decades the favourite for dark matter, and every search so far has come up empty. Catching one is pure wishful thinking. Good thing that's allowed here.”
