Fact from the codex
Hypothetical: a heavier sibling of the Z boson, messenger of an extra force beyond the Standard Model. Searches look for a narrow peak in electron or muon pairs; in common models it is excluded up to about 5 TeV so far.
Professor Quark says
“A Z′, the big brother of the Z boson. If there were another force, it would need another carrier. Its fingerprint: a muon pair with suspiciously high energy. The real experiments have found nothing so far – hence we build bigger.”
